Air Jordan 2009

Here's a look at the AJ 2009. While I'm not impressed nor do I plan on buying (unless heavily discounted), my twenty year run has come to end. I have dream, and now I see that he is not me, but it was fun trying to be like Mike!

Playoffs, Playoffs, Playoffs?

We talking about Playoffs?

After losing to the pathetic example of a team, the Bengals, I thought no way in hell the Eagles would make the playoffs. Being the die hard fan that I am (not like people from philly), I still followed my team as most supporters do. I watched them beat the hated GIants three weeks ago, only to come back and lose to the Deadskins. At that point, there was no way the Bucs and Bears could lose to their shoddy opponents on the last week of the season; which would send us to the playoffs. Well guess what, it happened. As I sat, and intensely watch the game, I realized early in the second quarter that we are about to do the unthinkable. Not only making it to the playoffs, but doing it convincingly over an intra-divisional hated rival, the Cowboys. That made the victory much sweeter. I can't stand Tony Homo, and that scum bag T.O. Jerry Jones should have taken notes from Dan Snyder, you can't buy a championship. With that being said, I like our chances next week against the Vikings, and Tavaris Jackson at quarterback. Until then Fly Eagles Fly!

Girl he dumped you because why?

Interesting article I found..

(The Frisky) -- Writing about dating is my full-time job, so, naturally, I hear a lot of pretty deranged tales of love gone wrong. But last week I received a letter from a woman who was convinced that men wouldn't go out with her because she was just too ... beautiful.

She fully believed her breathtaking attractiveness was anything but a man-magnet -- as one might expect. Instead, she said, her beauty acted as a Romeo-repellant, causing suitors to run screaming from her. Obviously, I explained the situation to her (perhaps it wasn't her gorgeous outsides, but her narcissistic insides that were doing the damage), but it did get me to thinking about all the other ridiculous reasons that women -- myself included -- come up with when they get dumped.

Along with being too beautiful, here are a few other qualities I guarantee nobody will ever break your heart over:

Too smart: I once had a friend who was convinced she couldn't keep a boyfriend because she was too smart for the male population. She was positive her staggering intellect was turning them off. Uh, no. What drove the men away (and most of her female friends, as well) was the fact that she was mean. We're talking stupendously cruel. Her definition of smart translated into cutting people down until they felt like the smallest person on earth. Not exactly a turn-on, no matter how cleverly it's worded.

I have to admit, having a woman that is articulant and inquisitive is very attractive, most of the time. However, words are dangerous, and if you don't think before you speak, you could place yourself in an unnecessary predicament. I'm all for women expressioning their opinions and all, but sometimes people need to learn when to shut the f*ck up (word to Tariq) Yes, I said it. Some people do not know how or when to choose their battles, and this can cause for conflict in a relationship. Sit back and think about all the times that your PRIDE has gotten the best of you, and you found yourself arguing about some dumb isht that shouldn't even matter the next day. Why?, because you don't want to be perceived as that subserviant woman and Beyonce has you feeling like Ms. independent and irraplacable.

Too good in bed: You've practiced Tantra, and you've never met a sexual position you wouldn't try at least once. Yet men will get with you one time, and then you never hear from them again. You're not getting dumped because of how well you do it, but because of how hard you try when you do it. Sex should be fun and relaxing -- not an audition for the porn Olympics.

This could go both ways for men and women, however I think women come to expect the man to be a little more advance and to take charge in the bedroom. Personally, I think if a woman jumped in bed and started directing the man into positions that he hasn't tried before that would be a big red flag. First you are going to think if, this heffa has been around the block a few times. I'm not saying that you have to teach her every thing because we all know that you aren't the first N' to be with her and you sure aren't going to be the last; but damn ladies be discreet about that isht sometimes. If you suck a man's balls through his d*ck (pause) on the first night, I guaranteed you aren't going to be wifey.

Too intimidating: An amalgam of the "too smart"/"too beautiful" non-dilemma, these women think they keep getting blown off because they're too accomplished, too employed, too gorgeous, too intellectual, too too. The only kind of man who is put off by a kind, smart, beautiful woman with a great career and a fantastic smile is the kind of dolt you don't want to be bothered with dating in the first place. However, these jerks are few and far between. Don't blame your broken heart on his inability to handle your extreme fabulosity. The fact of the matter is that nobody but a psycho is going to dump you be because you're too perfect.

First off, there isn't a balance of intellect and beauty when it comes to women. Show me a woman who is equally smart as beautiful, and I'll show you a woman with severe insecurities at the core.. I dare you to prove me wrong?

All this is not to say that his reasoning will make any sense if you do drag it out of him. It is to say that we ladies tend to overanalyze breakups. And while a little introspection is a good thing, a lot of introspection gets really boring, really fast. Onward!

R.I.P. D'maj Smith...12/15/2007

Photobucket

Today marks the one-year passing of a high school friend and teammate. Seemed like yesterday I seen him walking around school in a Tommy Hilfiger sailor jacket, with the freshes kicks, us ditching practices, and all the Mission Bay events and parties. Never thought the "new kid" who transferred for baseball would become such a cool mofo and iconic for fashion.

If there is someone that you have not talked to in a minute or any difference you need to reconcile with someone, do it today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, so don't take today for granted. And, I urge everybody to wear your seatbelts, even if you're going around the corner.

No More EXCUSES Negro!

When I first started this blog, it was me and my cousin D-rock filling the entries; but lately I have had more free time and his entries have become infrequent due to his obligations. However every once in awhile he'll post a rant on MS about something and I'll post it here, even though he has access to do so. Anyhow, coming straight from the Chi, here's D-Rocks rant....

I read the brilliant blog from my cousin today and got to thinking about President(to hell with that "ELECT" bulls##t) OBAMA. growing up with an alcoholic taught me to mince words when I think my words could possibly offend those listening. I am going to try and unclog that filter in my brain for this one. White people for years have been looking for a reason to tell niggas(remember that word) to stop making excuses for a lack of progress that could be caused by the following: systematic oppression, institutionalized racism, redlining, lack of affirmitive action, social, economic, and educational disparities(I DON"T GIVE A F%^K ABOUT TYPOS TONITE), Clarence Thomas, laws that target poor minorities which jack up prison rates, and a host of others. Well now they have one! A Black president! No more excuses niggas. " Man, it's hard for a nigga like me with a felony to get a job!" White guy(or lady): "hey man, y'all got a black president!" "Yo, I came from a broken home, a drug and gang infested neighborhood, urban blight, and the piece of shit education i got ain't cuttin it". White guy: Hey man, y'all got a black president"! "Dude i been in ten foster homes and in and out of juvee'. I aint got no future"! White guy: "Hey man, y'all got a black president"! Sir! i have B.S. from Stanford and my PHD from Princeton. i am a tenured professor at Cornell. The cops still profile me saying "You fit the description buddy". White guy: Hey man, y'all got a black president'! Sorry Negroes! OBAMA has jacked things up for you! I am not suggesting that every one from a fractured background such as mine should be motivated by what some refer to as resillient child syndrome. Listen bros! no one gives a shit about where you come from or what you've been through. that shit won't pay the bills or feed your ass.
MY sensitive and emotional ass had to learn that the hard way as I do most lessons in life. If you need help stop letting roxi and that corny nigga terrence from106 and Park provide your therapy and use the thousands of free counseling services waiting to help yo ass! Maybe the white guy is right. WE ALL have a black president now! Think about Martin lying there at the steps of that memphis hotel with his jaw ripped to his chest. Remember Malcolm's bullet riddled body on the stage of that New York ballroom in front of his wife and beautiful daughter?.I'm sure Rosa Parks, Harriet tubman, Huey newton, and even booker T.
wahington might just say: Stop makin excuses! I am off the soap box now! think progressive y'all! OUT

Was that racist?

Most of us have had those "damn that was racist" moments. As a black man, I encounter these moments all the time. I come to the realization that it just comes with the territory, but sometimes I feel like people (non-minorities) make insinuations purposely. So today I'm out and some "professional white man" walks in and asks me "Are you here for the custodial job?" I wanted to say, no Muth*ucka, I hear for the cotton picking job. Honestly, a hundred responses ran through my head at that moment. Now what in the world would make people, not just white people, pass such judgment on a brotha? Is it the baseball cap, t-shirt, fitted jeans, white tube socks, or the air I'm breathing. My point is this, I don't look any different from the next person (male) walking down the street with the exception of skin color.

My group of friends are all educated (higher education degrees), but some of us still have to deal with this constant ignorant isht. We sure the hell don't perpetuate ignorance, but somehow we are subjected to it. I think I experience this bullcrap at least once a month. I don't walk around categorizing people based on their skin color, however others have a hard time doing the same. You would think with O'bama and other prominent black figures (other than athletes) in the public eye who are judge by their character and intelligence, people would eventually start to do the same. As we can see that is not the case. It's an unpleasant reality to know that even in 2008, people still have this "mental barrier" that prevents them from thinking that coloreds aren't capable of more than serving as entertainers. These "barriers" keep minorities in lower position, regardless of their qualifications.

I think Kanye said it best "You still a N' in a coupe" or with a degree..etc..

WTF? Hell Nawl!

I need to get my invention game up if people are putting their money behind things like this..

6 Degrees of Separation (dating)

Here's my vent about dating people that have been directly or indirectly affiliated with promiscuious circles. Some of this might make sense and other parts not so much!

I have always heard that you are separated by only six people in the world. Growing up I found that hard to believe because if you go outside and randomly choose six strangers, chances are they will not know someone that you know to complete the cycle (if that makes any sense). Before my skirt chasing days, I would always see the girls chasing the same guys and vice verse. I never understood why people would continue to date the same person after a homie or acquaintance has, especially when you know that person's dirt. When I finally entered the dating world at the tender age of 12-13 years, my first real girlfriend was part of the "highly sought after females". For me I merely saw it a way to become more popular with my peers. Nothing serious happen between us, maybe a note passed in class, a walk home, or she wore my jersey to a game. However, when we broke up she went full throttle, and started diving into any and every ones' bed. Now I know that we did not get that far, and quite frankly she might have thought I was slow back then; and I'll admit I was. I vividly recall the feeling of disgust knowing that my name was associated with hers, and we did absolutely nothing. It made me feel slutty. I'm like these females, it's a privilege to get in bed with me. From that point on, I made a promise to myself to date more cautiously in the future for obvious reasons like my health.

When I entered high school, I was able to successfully do that and a smudge of dirt could not be found on my name. That's actually kind of hard considering most high schools are anywhere between 2000-6000 students. I know most guys don't give a damn about a females reputation because most of the time they are thinking with their little head; that is until they wake with that instant burn. Anyhow, once I became an adult, I felt like there is no possible way that I would date a woman that would be within six degrees of separation of a guy I knew or knew of. You have the whole world to choose from. What I have come to find out is, the older you get the smaller your circle becomes, and everyone wants to be part of the same crowd. Once you find your niche of people that have the same taste in clubs, women, men(nh), music, entertainment, etc...then inevitably that six degree becomes more like one.

I am very selective in my process of dating women for all the reasons above, but somehow this six damn degrees keeps biting in the butt. Every time I think I have expanded my boundaries, or I'm out in the clear, I come to find out that I'm not. It's frustrating and only leads me to one thing, I need to move somewhere way far out or start dating people from the most random groups or areas. Not all men, but when some men know that his girl has been directly or indirectly in a circle of people that slept with each other it messes with him. You start thinking things like duration of time that the paths could have possibly been crossed. For instance, if A slept with B, and B slept with C, and C slept with D, and D slept with B, and D, and C sleeps with E, and then E sleeps with G, was there a time that all of these people were sleeping with each and not knowing. Dangerous! Now before you go drop the "who cares what she did before you", fall back. I'm very comfortable knowing that I will always have be some one's sloppy seconds, however, you don't want those seconds to have no trend left on them. I think it's best not to know anything at all, that way you can't pass judgment or have unwanted images in your head appear. Either way, it seems like a no win situation. How the saying goes, "there's always someone that came before you, and someone will always come after you"...

9 Random Things about the brain

Brain is certainly the most amazing part of human body. It becomes more interesting when it does not work the way you expect it should. Psychology frequently establishes our intuitions about how human mind works, but it reveals a number of surprises as well…

Although some psychology students will have heard one or two of these before, here’s a list of brain habits you probably didn’t realize you had:

1) The maximum capacity of your short-term memory is seven.

Humans have basically three forms of memory: Sensory, Long-term and Short-term. Long-term memory is just like hard-drive space. Similarly, Short-term memory functions like a very small RAM. This Short-term memory is capable to hold only about five to nine (seven is an average) items at a time.

Retrieving information longer than this will need you to either pack it together into seven units or store it in Long-term memory. Have you observed that the most phone numbers have only seven digits?

2) The most visible color is Chartreuse.
Yellowish green, chartreuse, is naturally placed right in the middle of the frequencies of visible light. Human eyes have receptors for green, blue and red colors. Being placed in the middle, chartreuse actuates the most of these receptors to fire, making it distinct and easier to spot. For the same reason, in some metropolises, firetrucks have been modified from red to a yellowish green color to make them more visible and obvious to the eye.

3) Subconscious is smarter than you.

Subconscious is smarter than you. In other words, it is more powerful. In a recent study, a square was attributed to a location on a computer screen through a complex pattern. After watching it out, people began to get results better than the chance of recognizing where the square would crop up next. However, when they were inquired to consciously find out the pattern, even given a few hours, nobody really did it!

4) There are two nervous systems.

We have two sets of nervous systems. One controls excitation, while the other controls inhibition. If you hold out your hand, you might observe minor tremors. This is actually stimulated by slight, random differences in the amount each of the two systems are firing.

5) Brain is exceptionally bad at probability.

Your high-school math teacher might have told you about this one. Here what’s interesting isn’t that your brain is bad at probability. But how? In one study, recipients were asked:

Jessica is 31 years old, single, candid, and very promising. She graduated in philosophy. As a student, she was anxious about discrimination issues and social justice, and also took part in anti-nuclear demonstrations.

Assign a rank to the following statements from most probable to least probable: Jessica is a teacher in an elementary school.

Jessica works in a bookstore and takes Yoga classes.
Jessica is active in the feminist movement.
Jessica is a psychiatric social worker.
Jessica is a member of the League of Women Voters.
Jessica is a bank teller.
Jessica is an insurance salesperson.
Jessica is a bank teller and is active in the feminist movement.
Nearly 90% of students responded that #7 was more probable than #5. This is despite the fact that to be a bank teller and in the feminist movement is entirely contained within the set of #5 (just being a bank teller). It is observable that our minds like to think more details make events more probable, not less.

6) Memory isn’t great either.

Research has revealed that people are highly probable to misremember past events. Even worse, it is quite easy to suggest a memory that never happened. Due to this fact, so-called “repressed” memories should be given a lot of consideration. It is extremely easier to suggest a memory of a situation that never encountered, then it is to recover one that actually did.

7) Depth is perceivable with one eye.

It’s not quite true that depth perception is totally the result of having two eyes. Binocular vision does help in making a three-dimensional image. Still, most of your capability to perceive depth comes from inside your brain. It has been wired to look at angles and proportions to measure distance.

If you needed two eyes to perceive depth, then most optical illusions wouldn’t work and it would be extremely difficult to gather information from two-dimensional images. Not to mention a great number of one-eyed pirates walking overboard.

8 ) Long-term memory closes up during sleep.

The components of the brain that carry information to Long-term memory turn off while sleeping. For the same reason, dreams quickly fade out after you wake up. Although you may have quite a few dreams in a night, they aren’t being memorialized into Long-term memory. Normally only the fragments of a dream left in Short-term memory have a possibility to be converted after you wake up.

9) The Brain has an amazing instant playback feature.

The last form of memory, i.e. Sensory memory is actually your brain’s equivalent to an instant playback feature. Functioning for both your vision and hearing, your thalamus can resend signals a few seconds after they were originally sent.

Let’s suppose being at a party and overhearing someone call your name. Often you can recall what they said even if you were concentrating on another conversation. This is because your sensory memory re-sends the signals when it feels something important, such as your name. If you missed this form of memory, activities such as multitasking or taking notes from a speaker would not be practicable for you.

If you’re supposed to repeat something you just said because the other person wasn’t hearing, just wait for a few seconds. Often they can replay the message in their head and cause to a reaction.
